What Is Pre-order?
Glad you asked! We value slow creations, timeless and mindful design, which is why we only create small batches & use a pre-order system for our pieces. Pre-order allows us to minimize fabric waste, and keep our business sustainable from a financial and environmental standpoint: we create pieces according to demand, which allows us to be very thoughtful about them, avoid overproduction, in turn it allows our artisans to create quality pieces without rushing. For you it means you get to wear ethically made clothing and accessories that have an intimate connection with the people who made them.
How Does It Work?
There is a two or three weeks period where you get to pre-order items from a collection in advance. Once the items are up on the website, you can select the size option of your choice for the item you want to buy, and upon placing your order, you will receive a confirmation email from us. The good news is that if you need more specific sizing, you then have the option to contact us so we can tailor your order to your needs before it gets made! The item will then be shipped according to the pre-order timeframe mentioned in the product listing. If there is any more information that we need from you in order to fulfill your order, you will receive an email from us following up. If the item you choose specifies “In stock,” then it comes from one of our small batches of production and is available immediately, which we use for products like tote bags for instance.
Where Are Your Products Made?
The items for sale on this shop have been sewn and assembled either in New York, or in Lebanon, depending on the pieces. Our products are made with fabrics from Syria, and embroidered, crocheted, or assembled by artisans from the region, whose skills we trust in wholeheartedly. Our founder’s family has been working with these artisans for two generations: Tala has been furthering that relationship ever since launching the brand. Find out more about our work with them here.
Can I Get on the Waitlist for a Sold Out Product?
For our “small batch” products only and not pre-order: If the sold out product you’re interested in will be restocked, you can simply click the “Notify Me” button on the product page and enter your email address. If the “Notify Me” option isn’t available, then the product will not be restocked.
How Do I Care for My Tala Barbotin Khalidy Product?
Each piece is different, so we definitely recommend looking at the care instructions on the label of your garment before washing. If it is embroidered we generally recommend dry cleaning, and if possible using a green dry cleaner to be more environmentally conscious.
If the label does not specify dry clean only, we strongly encourage you to air dry your clothes: this will help save energy, water, and your clothes will last longer this way!
